The National Commission would ensure implementation of recommendations of Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) curbs recurrence of regrettable incidents, stressed commission Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh.

The independent commission will abide by international criteria in assuming its duties, he said yesterday.

“The commission commits to the Royal order No. 45 for the year 2011, restricting its prerogatives to studying the BICI recommendations and tabling proposals, including law amendments and implementation procedures,” Mr Al Saleh said.

He assured that the commission would keep the public abreast of its achievements. Hailing the support and the initiative of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Mr Al Saleh vowed that the commission would complete its mission before February this year.

The commission has divided its work among three main work teams - Human Rights, Legislative and National Reconciliation, it was announced.
