Bahrain expects recognition for its efforts from the international community, after the submission of National Committee (NC) report to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, a top official said yesterday.

The country has done what was required — first through the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) and now through NC which followed up on the recommendations, Information Affairs Authority President Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa said.

The NC will hand over its report on government’s implementations of the BICI recommendations today to King Hamad at Al Sakhir Palace. Speaking to DT, Shaikh Fawaz said that international media were invited to the event.

“Some declined, while some accepted, but IAA has not stopped anyone from visiting,” he said. He pointed out that Financial Times was invited but declined to visit as they were not willing to pay for the trip to Bahrain.

The handing over ceremony will happen at

1pm and BICI Chairman Professor Mahmoud Cherif Bassiouni will be present.

After the ceremony, NC Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh will address the media.
