BICI recommendations on sacked workers implemented

The government has accomplished Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) recommendation 1723, 1723A, B and C on reinstatement of dismissed public and private sector workers and students accused of taking part in last year's violent incidents.

The government has reinstated all of the demobilised civil service employees who had been dismissed on grounds of their participation in last year's unfortunate events.

The reinstatement of dismissed workers and/or students come in compliance with BICI's recommendations and Unesco's rules and regulations.

The government has exerted huge efforts and exercised all powers possible to ensure reinstatement of all dismissed private sector employees - approximately 97 per cent of them have been reinstated.

In a statement to Bahrain News Agency, member of the Shura Council's National Committee tasked with monitoring implementation of BICI recommendations Abdulaziz Abul lauded the efforts of His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Deputy Premiers and Labour Minister Jameel Humaidan for reinstatement of all public sector employees who have not been convicted in criminal cases in addition to the majority of private sector employees who have also been taken back..

According to official statistics, a total of 2,218 employees out of 2,462 demobilised employees have been reinstated, that is 90pc of the total number of dismissal cases.

The government has always expressed its keenness to reinstate all sacked workers to their jobs.

For this purpose, an agreement was signed by Mr Humaidan, General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions secretary-general Salman Al Mahfoudh and Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry board member and MP Othman Sharif for reinstatement of all dismissed workers in the aftermath of last year's incidents.
