His Majesty King Hamad yesterday stressed Bahrain's keenness to implement the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry's (BICI) recommendations.
He said the establishment of a national fund to compensate those affected by the unrest and forming a National Commission to implement recommendations were important steps in this regard.
His Majesty was speaking as he met visiting BICI chairman Professor Mahmoud Cherif Bassiouni.
The King lauded efforts by Prof Bassiouni during his tenure in Bahrain. He emphasised that the progress of reforms in the kingdom will continue and that it is a process open to development.
Prof Bassiouni later met the National Commission led by chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh. He hailed the achievements reached through the implementation of the BICI recommendations.
Mr Al Saleh said the door remains open for all political forces to take part in the commission - including the opposition.
