All Bahrainis, regardless of their sects or beliefs, have been urged to dedicate themselves to the service of the nation.
The call came from Ali Saleh Al Saleh, chairman of the National Commission in charge of implementing the recommendations of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI).
He said the commission members would do their utmost to assume their national responsibilities in order to cement unity, achieve reconciliation between all members of society and open a new chapter full of hope and national action, to enable the kingdom to continue its landmark reform march.
"The National Commission is fully aware of the duties entrusted to media cadres and establishments and is fully confident that they are capable of performing their role in embracing all opinions of Bahraini citizens or political sides to achieve peace and enhance social development," he said.
He also conveyed the commission members' appreciation of the tremendous efforts exerted by all national media representatives in the kingdom, and praise of the steps taken by the official media to implement the BICI recommendations.
Mr Al Saleh added that the commission expects media organisations to adhere to professional and ethical standards and commit themselves to credibility and neutrality, in light of the freedom of opinion and expression guaranteed in the kingdom's constitution and National Action Charter.
He said the free and impartial media, a basic pillar in all societies seeking democratic development, is an effective partner in safeguarding security and stability, consolidating cohesion and belonging, and promoting love and solidarity among members of the one-family Bahraini society.
